Sports Book Review – Notre Dame and the Game That Changed Football

Notre Dame and the Game That Changed Football

A departure from our usual home renovation, energy conservation and money saving articles today. Since we are quickly closing in on the BCS championship in college football and Notre Dame has finished its 2010 college football season with its game against the Miami Hurricane in the Sun Bowl, I thought I would write about the following book which I received for Christmas and just finished reading: Notre Dame and the Game That Changed Football: How Jesse Harper Made the Forward Pass a Weapon … [Read more...]

SDC11754

In a hurry for a unique last minute Christmas gift? The Home Depot is now offering customers the ability to include a personalized video when giving an eGift Card. You can record or upload a video for your family or friends to enjoy and then decide how you’d like to send the eCard—through email or Facebook! Seeing the gift appear on the recipient’s Facebook Wall can be pretty cool! The Home Depot is the first and only major retailer (to the best of my knowledge) offering personalized … [Read more...]

University of Notre Dame – Eck Visitors and Alumni Center

Fighting Irish Leprechaun and Friend

Over the past couple of weeks we have written about some of our experiences visiting the campus of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana and attending a home football game. Notre Dame Football Tickets - End Zone Seat

Don is not able to attend that game and his seats are near the 30 yard line vs the tickets we originally purchased which were in the end zone. Now, why … [Read more...]

Touring South Bend and College Football Hall of Fame

President Lincoln Carriage

After touring all day yesterday on the campus of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, we planned to take a break and see some of the other sights in the area. We started at 'The Museums at Washington and Chapin', which included three different sights. We began with the Studebaker National Museum which had wonderful exhibits from the wagons they started to create when the brothers began in 1852 through  the Avanti which debuted in 1962. We spent all told about 2+ hours … [Read more...]

Notre Dame

Go Irish

I have been a diehard fan of the University of Notre Dame for all of my 50+ years on this planet. Like many Fightin' Irish fans, I had previously only seen the campus on television during the home football games in the fall. I never had the chance to see the GO IRISH painted sign on one of the walls within the Joyce Center. Pictures, like the one below the live WebCam of the Golden Dome on top of the Main Administration building (on the right) with the Basilica on the left, were only … [Read more...]
