Irish are Number One

Irish Coffee

The University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's football team are number one. I know. Sounds like a dream, right? It has been 24 years since a season like this, and it is not over; one more game to go on January 7, 2013. Somehow the morning cup of coffee tastes better. Yes, for Irish fans the world over, like me, there's a bounce in their step and a song in their heart. What a magical holiday season this will be for fans of Touchdown Jesus (seriously, that is what they call … [Read more...]

Notre Dame Football Book Review – The Forgotten Four

The Forgotten Four

I like sports, including football. I like history, always have. I like Notre Dame with a passion; ask any one who knows me or any of my students. :) So, I thought I would change things up just a bit. Last month we reviewed the book Notre Dame and the Game That Changed Football, by Frank Magio, which focused on Jesse Harper and the famous 1913 game between the Fightin' Irish and Army Black Knights at West Point where the underdog Notre Dame football team defeated the Cadets using the … [Read more...]

Sports Book Review – Notre Dame and the Game That Changed Football

Notre Dame and the Game That Changed Football

A departure from our usual home renovation, energy conservation and money saving articles today. Since we are quickly closing in on the BCS championship in college football and Notre Dame has finished its 2010 college football season with its game against the Miami Hurricane in the Sun Bowl, I thought I would write about the following book which I received for Christmas and just finished reading: Notre Dame and the Game That Changed Football: How Jesse Harper Made the Forward Pass a Weapon … [Read more...]

The past several days we have written about the Notre Dame Marching Band concert at the steps of Bond Hall, about their entrance and music played inside Notre Dame Stadium prior to the Fighting Irish home football game, and about the Notre Dame Bagpipe Band playing at the foot of the Main Administration building (the one with the Golden Dome of Our Lady) all during home game day activities. Notre Dame Marching and Alumni Bands in Notre Dame Stadium

Following my recent visit to the campus of the University of Notre Dame to experience a football weekend of the Fighting Irish, I wrote two articles with lots of pictures and video clips on both the Notre Dame Bagpipe Band playing in front of the Main Administration (Golden Dome) building and the Notre Dame Marching Band playing on the steps of Bond Hall, both on the University campus. This article focuses on the University of Notre Dame Marching Band performing inside Notre Dame Stadium in … [Read more...]

University of Notre Dame – Bagpipe Band

Notre Dame Bagpipe Band

A few days ago we wrote about how we spent a few days recently on the campus of the University of Notre Dame and attended a home football game of the Fighting Irish. Today, I thought I would provide some of the short videos of the University of Notre Dame Bagpipe Band taken on September 25, 2010. As part of the game day activities on Saturday's in the fall when there is a home football game, the Bagpipe Band plays a concert on the steps of the Main Administration building on campus. Yes, … [Read more...]

For those interested in our experiences last year, with lots and lots of pictures and videos feel free to visit our Notre Dame page. This year, for the second year in a row, we had the same … [Read more...]

Notre Dame Football Season Tickets

Notre Dame Football Tickets - End Zone Seat

Last week I wrote about the pair of Notre Dame football tickets I purchased for the home game against the Stanford Cardinals from the Notre Dame Ticket Office as part of its 'friends of ND' sale back in July. Well, just a few days ago I obtained another pair from Don, a season ticket holder out in California, for the same game vs Stanford. Don is not able to attend that game and his seats are near the 30 yard line vs the tickets we originally purchased which were in the end zone. Now, why … [Read more...]

Notre Dame Foot Ball Tickets 2010

Last year I wrote extensively about my first ever trip to South Bend, Indiana to visit the campus of the University of Notre Dame and to also attend a football game of the Fighting Irish. So this year Harvey (who went with me last year for a guy's road trip) and I had already planned to attend the weekend of the … [Read more...]
