Earlier this week, Nancy and I took a break from our home maintenance and improvement chores. We even took a break from visiting various home improvement stores like Rona.
We stayed for two nights at the Sheraton Dolphin hotel at Walt Disney World. It is important for us to tell you that the folks at the Walt Disney World Dolphin hotel gave us no compensation at all for this review; in fact, they had no idea that we own our own web site.
Sheraton Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel
Sheraton’s Walt Disney World Dolphin, and its counterpart the Weston Walt Disney World Swan, hotels not owned by Disney but are right smack dab in the heart of Walt Disney World within the Epcot area. You get the same early admission privileges as staying on other Disney owned hotels.
The Dolphin hotel, and the Swan hotel, are both more convention type hotels without the Disney characters everywhere you look … which is a nice break for adults.
Location, Location, Location … for Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel
It is a beautiful hotel with a grand lobby area, attractively designed exteriors as evidenced above and beautiful beach and pool areas.
The hotel is situated across from Walt Disney World’s Boardwalk resort ….
… and between Disney’s Hollywood Studios seen in the picture below (taken from our room at the Sheraton Dolphin hotel) beyond the Swan hotel as evidenced by the Hollywood Tower of Terror in the background ….
… and Disney’s Epcot theme parks, the latter seen in this picture below taken, again, from the balcony in our 9th floor room.
Close to Disney Theme Parks
To get to either Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Epcot theme parks you can take the water taxi or walk. We walked. It was a lovely 15 minute walk along either Disney’s Yacht Club or Beach Club resorts (the latter shown in the picture immediately above) or along Disney’s Boardwalk resort.
We spent time parts of all three days at Disney’s Epcot. As is the case with all the Epcot area Disney resorts you are so close that you do not have to get up super early (unless you want to) and spend all day at the parks. One morning we went first to Disney’s Animal Kingdom …
… and then after checking in we walked to the Food and Wine Festival at Disney’s Epcot dining at the La Hacienda de San Angel restaurant.
The next morning we relaxed at the pool ….
… before walking again to Epcot to enjoy more of the Food and Wine Festival, dining at restaurant in Disney’s Epcot Rose and Crown restaurant with a walk-up dining request for dinner which was filled in 2 minutes!
Walt Disney World Dolphin Can Treat You Special
Our very short, two night and three day stay was a special occasion … it was Nancy’s birthday!
After we made our reservation I received one of those automated emails asking “ If there is anything we can do to make your visit more comfortable, please let us know. ”. So, I emailed them back indicating it was Nancy’s birthday not thinking that they would actually act upon it. Yet, boy did they come through.
First, we received an upgraded hotel room at no cost, one with a balcony. Second, the room was not just any room with a balcony, but it was on the top floor of one of the ends providing outstanding panoramic views. All those photographs of the Walt Disney World Dolphin hotel were taken by me from the two … yes two … balconies!
At night we saw the fireworks from the Illuminations show at Walt Disney World’s Epcot and even heard much of the music.
Now that’s special! Wait, there’s more.
When we returned to our room at the Sheraton Dolphin hotel we found this surprise waiting for us:
Thank you Nancy Peel, Hotel Manager at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort for your kindness and extra touches in helping us celebrate Nancy’s birthday. We indeed felt very special.
Without any of the special touches we would still, and plan to, stay again in the future!
