Irish are Number One

The University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish men’s football team are number one.

I know.

Sounds like a dream, right?

It has been 24 years since a season like this, and it is not over; one more game to go on January 7, 2013.

Somehow the morning cup of coffee tastes better.

Yes, for Irish fans the world over, like me, there’s a bounce in their step and a song in their heart.

What a magical holiday season this will be for fans of Touchdown Jesus (seriously, that is what they call this mural on one of their campus libraries), taken by me during my first campus visit a few years ago.

Win or lose on January 7, 2013, what a truly magical football season this has been.

Somehow watching the holiday bowl games on TV at home will be more enjoyable.

I have watched their games this season from Niagara Falls on Labor Day weekend, Oshawa Ontario and Maple Valley, Washington.

I have watched their games this season live and PVR’d.

What an interesting autumn it has been for me personally, for the Irish Lads, for Irish Alums and Irish Subway Alums (again, like me).

For Domers, one of the nick names given to fans of the Golden Dome, this is our time (another picture taken by me on one of my two campus visits).
