We have moved from our home for the first week of our vacation, Disney’s BoardWalk Villas between Epcot and Hollywood Studios …
… to Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House:
We have encountered from the very second of our arrival numerous ‘issues’ with the staff and the room. I know this Disney resort is the favorite of many people. So, rather than judge based on our first less than 24 hours we will hold off in writing a review of Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House until we have stayed there the entire week. I will say that they better step it up.
Instead, today’s article will focus on the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical dinner show, a staple at Walt Disney World for decades (or so it seems).
From Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House to Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review
It was recommended to me that my daughter and I consider taking a taxi to get to the dinner show. Yet, we opted to use Disney transportation.
First there was the direct Disney Transportation System bus from Jambo House to Magic Kingdom.
Then we took the 10-ish minute ferry ride from Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, the location of the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review.
The ferry ride was quite tranquil and peaceful, as was the area of the Fort Wilderness Resort which we saw. Below for example is a picture combining some of the docks as well as just a little of the large beach front area of this Disney resort.
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Review
If there was any complaint it was that we were given too much food for just the two of us as you will see.
The entertainment is a typical dinner show with typical Disney wholesomeness.
Everyone there was enjoying themselves and getting into the country and western themed show and its characters.
I’m not sure which I preferred more, this or the Aloha dinner show at the Polynesian resort which my oldest daughter and myself visited two years ago.
As for the food, I suggest you do not eat at all the entire day before the show. Sure, this is not possible, but you get my drift.
First there was the salad brought out in a bucket:
Then there was the chicken and ribs brought out, again, in their own buckets, and the picture below was after some ribs and chicken were already removed by us from the buckets!
Then the sides of corn, beans and whipped potatoes brought out on their own plates (you thought I was going to say ‘in their own buckets’ didn’t you? ):
Then there was the strawberry short cake for desert which was to be shared (but was still too much for my daughter and I to finish).
The food was excellent, the service was excellent, the show was excellent.
Once the show was over we then took the ferry back to Magic Kingdom where we caught the bus back to Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House for the night.
This is a highly recommended ‘attraction’ that should not be missed. Of course I am not the only one to say this by the crowds and how long in advance one typically needs to secure tickets!
