Must See Classics Again at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
We walked once more from our room at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas to Hollywood Studios, this time arriving in the very early afternoon.
Upon arrival we discovered that we had only twenty minutes to wait until the Beauty and the Beast performance so we went there first.
Yes we saw it earlier in the week but when it is a must see classic and a tradition for us, this is what we do. The cast did not disappoint.
Next, we went to the Voyage of the Little Mermaid to discover that there were no fast passes available because we could just walk into the viewing area. The crowds were very low yesterday, so low that there was actually time to take this picture (yes that is my reflection ) in the area normally used to hold the crowds for the next show.
It was then that our activities in Disney’s Hollywood Studios took a departure from earlier in the week.
By this time it was mid-afternoon and we were both getting very hungry. This out of the way, small, take-out restaurant is bypassed by most people.
Yet, it has some of the most delicious quick service meals in any of Walt Disney World. Above is our order of a turkey sandwich, chocolate croissant and a specialty apple danish.
Just look at the size of that turkey sandwich! It was delicious.
More Hollywood Studio Classics
Up next was the Great Movie Ride which we had not done earlier in the week. Again, our wait was less than 10 minutes.
We then followed the yellow brick road from the Great Movie Ride to a repeat performance of Muppets 3D, another repeat from our earlier visit. I am sure this attraction has received a significant boost in its audience following the 2012 Muppet Movie.
Next up was the Back Stage Tour attraction for us.
I have had friends who actually participated in the above Harbor Attach portion of this attraction but I have never been chosen regardless of how many times I have seen it!
Dinner at Mamma Melrose
I had made advanced dining reservations for this restaurant that is the favorite of some friends of mine and has become one of ours.
Its current menu shows the diversity of its Italian themed offerings.
The food, starting with the above Cesar Salad which was heavy on the garlic (yea, garlic! ) was excellent.
My daughter had the chicken parmasian shown here all mixed together:
I had a chicken and pasta dish which I had not had previously yet it was recommended to me by a friend and it was also excellent.
Fantasmic Really Is Fantastic!
From Mama Melrose’s we walked to the other end of the Hollywood Studios past the Tower of Terror which is a favorite attraction for my other daughter, who was not with us on this trip, and also of mine yet for different reasons.
The crowds for Fantasmic were lager than I expected with the crowds in the park on the low side all afternoon. Yet as you can see it was crowded.
Yes, I would put Fantasmic on the must see, not to be missed attractions.
We had seen this excellent night time attraction before, but it was many years ago and it was a cold (yes, for Florida ) winter night. However on this evening the weather was perfect!
This attraction includes everything from Mickey as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice …
… to boats with multi-colored lighting designs and favorite Disney Characters such as Beauty and the Beast above to …
… to numerous movie clips from Disney hero and villian classic movies and additional boats with numerous Disney characters. Can you spot your favorite above?
In all it was a very nice day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for us.
