In the past few days we have written the following articles about our 2012 visit to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida:
- Disney’s Epcot and Disney Princesses Dining
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Disney’s Magic Kingdom – Good and Poor Experiences
- Laundry at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas
Today we write about our return to Disney’s Epcot for an afternoon and evening of enjoyment.
Gentle Attractions in Epcot Future World
The crowds were very light this afternoon which allowed us to visit any of the gentle attractions with hardly any wait in line. First up there was Captain EO with the late Michael Jackson.
Then of course a tradition was Journey Into The Imagination:
Up next was the Finding Nemo ride at the Living Seas pavilion. Next, we enjoyed a nice light lunch of freshly prepared chicken Cesar salad at The Land pavilion …
… followed by a few activities in The Land pavilion as well as viewing just some of the outstanding plant sculptures as part of Disney’s annual spring Flower Festival:
After viewing Ellen’s Energy Adventure with Bill Nye the Science Guy, we went hunting for chocolate!
Hunting For Delicious Chocolate in Epcot
A friend of mine indicated that there was excellent chocolate to be had at some of the country pavilions in the World Showcase area of Epcot. So, on our way back to our room at BoardWalk Villas to refresh prior to the evening festivities in Epcot, we stopped by both the shops of the Norway (interesting that the bars in the yellow wrapping are not from Norway but from Sweden) …
… and the British pavilions to pick up some milk chocolate bars.
The question is: will there be any of the purchased chocolate bars left by the time we leave Disney World?
As it was a hot day we quickly went back to our room at BoardWalk Villas to pace the chocolate within the in-room mini-fridge.
Oh Canada, Redux
When we returned from our room at the BoardWalk Villas to Epcot, we has a little time before our ADR (advanced dining reservation) so we went back to see the Oh Canada short film with Martin Short. Don’t worry; none of these pictures were taken with flash photography!
Canada is truly a very beautiful country, more than just Niagara Falls shown partially in the above picture. Below a nice picture of just some of its spring flowers from the film.
Of course there were many clips in the film showing snow boarders and downhill skiers. And here is one of the Fairmont Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia, neither of which I have visited yet am so looking forward to in the future.
Rose & Crown Pub Dinner and Illuminations
Upon completion of the Oh Canada shot film we went quickly to the Rose & Crown Pub for our 7:45 pm dinner reservation.
Sadly they had just changed their dinner menu so Bangers & Mash are now limited to the luncheon menu; I know someone who will be disappointed.
We shared this scallops appetizer which was delicious:
This was followed by ‘Cottage Pie’ (more commonly known as Sheppard’s Pie) for one …
… with the other enjoying fish in batter plus steak, both of which were very yummy.
The night finished with Illuminations as we were finishing our meal, part of which we could see from our seat at the Rose & Crown Pub.
Next up, a return trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida.
