Yesterday was a tad of a frustrating day on a few levels as my oldest daughter and I ventured onto our 3rd Disney World theme park in as many days, this time the Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida.
Mickey’s PhilharMagic in Walt Disney World
We had a planned very late start for our day. The ‘plan’ was to stay sufficiently late to watch the Electric Magic Parade and possibly Wishes and the night ending fireworks display. We are not ones to stay out late at all so this was a stretch objective!
So, our first stop was to visit one of our very favorite attractions as Magic Kingdom, Mickey’s PhilharMagic.
This 3D short film includes many of the recent classic Disney movie characters such as Aladin and Jasmine, Ariel and Flounder, and more. It was very crowded in the theatre as the picture below shows:
Of course, where would the short movie be without its star, Donald Duck being very Donald.
Remember, it is a 3D movie so the above picture might seem a tad out of focus. And, yes, no flash photography was used in the making of this article!
It’s A Small World
Next up was another classic attraction at Magic Kingdom. If you are sensing that we were having a gentle ride day at the part, you are right.
It was hugely crowded in this attraction and in this part of Magic Kingdom.
Frustrations Even in Magic Kingdom
The large crowds can be a little frustrating to navigate, especially when one is pushing a wheel chair in front of which it seems as if every second or third young toddler wants to jump in front of at the last minute!
As well, we did have the Magic Kingdom Guide for Guests With Disabilities yet it did not show one single companion washroom; so locating companion washrooms throughout the day was yet another challenge.
And of course there were the multiple instances of a male parent using a companion washroom with his son or a female parent using same with her daughter.
And every try to text someone while waiting for a companion washroom? Or needing to reply to an urgent text while within a companion washroom and the texts are not sent out due to very poor WiFi connections?
Onward we went.
Others Gentle Magic Kingdom Attractions
Next up was the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor comedy club. It was unique … the first time we went through.
Well, literally half way through the show stopped. After 4 or 5 minutes we were all asked to leave. I guess we didn’t laugh sufficiently!
Yet sometimes the pre-show visuals are sufficiently funny to make many people laugh, even if they are not there in person and are having a tough morning.
Next up was Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, another gentle classic. It was cute.
For a change of pace we we tried Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. We had obtained a Fast Pass as the other line was showing 50+ minutes wait time. And it was a nice change of pace going against the Emperor Zurg!
Then back we went to Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor as they had fixed it.
Next (amazing we saw as many attractions as we did on a very crowded day in such a short time (just the afternoon)) it was all the way across to the other side of Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom to see the yet once again under new management Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room.
And then it was time for dinner!
Tony’s Town Square Restaurant
We had been waiting until this advanced dining reservation came up. We had never had diner in this Italian themed restaurant and were really looking forward to it. It is patterned after the Lady and the Tramp Disney classic movie.
We ended up, after first refusing the first table we were offered (yes, sadly, some of the day’s frustrations continued), a very nice table right next to this floor piece:
The house salad was excellent.
The bread rolls and dip were excellent too!
Once of us had the lasagna …
… while the other had Spaghetti with both meatball and Italian sausage.
Both entrees were delicious and too much for us so we took the unfinished portion back to our room at BoardWalk villas to reheat for dinner the next night.
One of us had caught a cold that evening so we decided not, sadly, to stay for the Electric Light Parade and went back to the room at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas.
Tomorrow, laundry? Really?
