Floor Cleaner Review – Mint Automatic Floor Cleaner Tests

Yesterday we wrote about the Mint automatic floor cleaner and showed pictures of this home floor cleaning product for hardwood, tile and linoleum floors.

Today we describe, with accompanying pictures and videos, some tests that we ran.

Now, one test was that of a narrow shared four piece bathroom with a tile floor. Not understanding a lot about technology, I was curious if this robotic floor cleaning product needed bright light to work.

In this bathroom while the CFL energy saving lights above the mirror were working fine, the CFL light bulb on the ceiling near the toilet had stopped working after only 3 years. Sigh. So, the room was on the dark side near the toilet.

So, I began with a clean Swiffer sheet in place on the magnetic cleaning pad as you can see in the above picture. Also in the picture notice off to the upper let the Northstar Navigation Cube on top of the counter top.

Here is the 9 minute or so video showing the Mint Automatic Clean Floor Cleaning unit from start to finish.

In the video, notice how quite the unit runs. We have a pet dog who likes to bark at anything. She didn’t even know it was on. The unit only makes a low humming sound as it runs. There is some cute beeping at the start, some more cute beeping noises near the end when it is almost finished and once more at the end.

Also notice how the unit will make a final sweep along the edges of the room at the end before it returns to the middle of the room from where it began.

At the end of this test, I took a picture of the now dirty Swiffer cloth and a clean unused one. That is a lot of dust picked up.

So, it looks like it passes the poorly lit room test.

Next, we come to what I think is a very challenging room. Our en suite bathroom has an adjoining toilet room. As well it has a double sink vanity with two narrow openings at the bottom which you can see in the picture below. I wonder if the Mint is small enough to get under that vanity? Notice on top of the vanity’s marble counter top the Northstar navigation Cube in place.

Here is the 10 minute video of the Mint robotic floor cleaner in action in this room. Keep watching to see if, once it gets back under the vanity for a third time if it can find its way out!

Did the Mind Automatic Floor Cleaner pick up a lot of dust in this en suite bathroom?

Well, from the above picture of the used Swiffer cloth I would say indeed it did.

Lastly, the next day I used the Mint robotic floor cleaner on the over sized recently installed floor tiles of our laundry room.

Below is the video of that test. Even though our laundry room is narrow, I was curious to see how it performed with the washer and dryer.

Tomorrow we finish this product review series seeing how this robotic floor cleaner performed on the hardwood floor in our kitchen and dining room. We will also see what happens when the unit is used in our front hallway which has an open stairway with stairs down to the basement. Will this floor cleaning product tumble down the stairs???

Just bought one of these at Bed Bath and Beyond with 20% off coupon, price is $150. Much better then Rumba.

I hope that it does as good a job and looking forward to tomorrow review.

    Hi Darryl,
    That is a reat price!

I have to be honest. It is the first product we have received and reviewed in the almost 3 years that DailyHomeRenoTips.com has been operating that my wife actually has taken any interest in; and a very positive interest at that!

    We really like it!
