Applying Drywall Compound and Tape to Drywall Insert

Yesterday we showed the use of the urethane sealant into the crack on the outside of the foundation wall.

Today, in this continuing series on fixing our basement water leak caused by a crack in our foundation wall, we return inside to have Fitz of Clarke Basement Systems

At this point in the home repair project, there is no techniques uique to the foundation wall crack repair effort, just so you know. Yet, it is part of the foundation wall crack repair service provided by this contractor.

First he applied the mud (drywall filler) into the gaps between the existing drywall and the drywall insert. A little excess mud was placed on either side of the drywall edge to help the drywall tape adhere.

Next, the drywall tape is applied onto the gap between the original and inserted drywall pieces as shown in the above picture.

Then, more mud was placed on top of the drywall tape.

Once this is done, then the Clarke Basement Systems part of this home repair project is over. It is my job then in a few days to finish the job which includes sanding the drywall compound, possibly apply a second coat and again sand, prime the area and paint.

As well, after waiting a month or so for the concrere to cure in the floor, I would need to install carpet tack strips onto the newly dried concrete patch in the floor, put the under padding and carpeting back into place in that corner of the room and then put the baseboard back into place.

This I will do and will show you the results, including the tips which Fitz gave me, in the next few days (due to the magic of the Internet time flies! icon smile Applying Drywall Compound and Tape to Drywall Insert ).

At this point, a job very well done by Fitz using Basement Systems’ FlexiSpan Crack Repair approach. He made sure that the work area was completely cleaned up from the foundation wall crack repair effort. He made sure he had answered any remaining questions I had. Fitz was great!

I highly recommend Clarke Basement Systems, even if it is simply to have them come in and provide a free quote for your particular basement needs situation in the Greater Toronto Area and adjacent communities like Oshawa, Unionville, Pickering, Mississauga, etc. You can reach them at 877-568-3907.

Thank you very much, Fitz!

Next time, we take over and finish the repair to the drywall in our finished basement. Select this link to learn about the priming tip for drywall repair we received from Fitz.
