Replacement Front Door - Making the Call

April 11th, 2009 · No Comments

Yesterday, we wrote about how the fascia was separating from the frame of our less than one year old replacement front door, the new door which was part of our home renovation and improvement activities last year.

We purchased our replacement front door from an international big box building supply company.  We did this because we knew nothing about replacement doors and wanted a company  who would stand behind their work and their product.

So, when this happened to us less than a year from the installation, we hoped our faith in our choice was deserved.

Now, having had issues with the front line support people last year I by-passed them and when straight to the chief.  I called the store manager, Leslie, with whom I had a few conservations towards the end of our replacement front door mis-adventures last year.

So I the store and as she was in a meeting I left a message, my phone number and the number of our initial order. That way she could (hopefully) research our order’s history before returning our call.

She called back in a few hours.

I explained the situation to her. I didn’t say that we still had not paid for the door yet (as it was on a 12 month no payments no interest type of financing from the retailer) . I did remind her that we had not yet had the door for a year and were encountering this issue.

She was very sympathetic and understanding. Leslie asked when it would be convenient for me to have someone come over and look at the situation, etc.

Less than 1 hour later, Mike, her store installation manager called and we arranged a day and time for the inspection.

He said that he would be bringing over with him a second person as well.

I have my camera at the ready.

Tomorrow we’ll find out together what they said and what the course of action is to be.

Stay tuned.

Is it just me or do these things seem to be just happening to us?
