In Part 20 we introduced the two large Mums which we had purchased and placed in front of our front door with plans to plant in our front garden.
Today, we wanted to check back on the progress of the Stella D’Or Day Lilies which were planted, according to the garden plan created for us, along the side of the driveway.
If you recall, this is what they looked like after we had initially planted them.
I have to admit I was a little suspicious. I had never planted these plants before and was not sure how they would grow to fill in that side of the garden along the driveway.
Well, here is the picture taken in early September.
They have indeed started to fill in that part of the garden.
As far as the colour, I have never been a fan of yellow. Gold? Sure. Gold goes great with dark blue, especially when it is worn by my favorite college football team.
However, the yellow of these Day Lilies is a nice contrast to the green of the many evergreens and Hostas, as well as the red house brick. They have been a nice addition to our low maintenance front garden makeover, which is still in progress.
