Energy Conservation In The Home - Installation Complexity and Cost

July 25th, 2008 · No Comments

Yesterday we introduced the Daily Home Renovation Tips energy conservation tips listing.

Today we would like to look at the same listing, but from the viewpoint of Installation Complexity and Installation Cost.

Yes, cost matters. If it did not, we would all have solar PV panels on our roofs, right?

What also matters is how much can we do ourselves? Sure, that depends on our own level of experience and expertise. However, does it really take a rocket scientist to turn off the power bar to which our TV, Tivo, Receiver, DVD player, etc. are connected at night in order to eliminate ‘phantom energy’ consumption? Of course not.

OK, here is the same listing of energy conservation tips but ranked first from the simplest to most complex to install / start and within that those same tips are ranked from cheapest to the most expensive tip.

What I hope you get out of the above sorting is that most energy conservation tips are both the simplest and the cheapest to undertake.

It does not take much money to start to save energy and save money. And, it does not take much ‘know how’ in order to save energy or money either.

So, what are you waiting for? Why have you not yet started to conserve energy and save yourself money. It’s both simple and cheap to do.

Once you have tackled all of the simple and cheap energy conservation activities, then you can approach the more complex and more costly tips.

Yes, if you have an energy conservation tip that is not on the list, please let us know so we can include it for others to also be ‘in the know’.  :-)
