A short time ago we wrote two articles on our use of a solar charged device to repel the moles who were causing significant damage to our back yard’s lawn.
Well, after two weeks, so far so good.
Our family dog, Sandy, is not bothered at all by the device which generates every 10 seconds or so a vibrating sound to, so the theory goes, repel moles and other rodents.
And, in two weeks of usage, we have had no further damage to our back yard’s lawn.
So last weekend, while I was working on remodeling the gardens in the front of our house, Cath was busy planting vegetables in the vegetable garden in the backyard. It’s our first vegetable garden since our children were young and we had them help us to learn about that sort of stuff. And of course, the fresh green beans were so delicious for dinner just having been picked an hour before.
Our next door neighbour, Cindy, mentioned how they had experienced rabbits eating some of their backyard vegetation last year. Remember, we, as does Cindy and her husband Jim, live in houses which back onto a ravine.
I thought why not move the solar charged pest repeller device over to a corner of the vegetable garden and see if that would work as well against the vegetable eating rodents as it has (so far) against the lawn destroying rodents. So, that is what we did.
The picture above is of our newly planted vegetable garden. And, no that is not a rodent in the picture (shame on you
) but Sandy, our pet. If you look closely at the corner of the garden on the lower right you might be able to make out the solar charged pest repeller. Here’s a closer look.
Will this work for sure? Will this device work as well as a small mesh fence around the vegetables? Come back later this summer when we will let you know on our progress.

I’m looking forward to see how this turns out.

Hi Raleigh,
I hope you are keeping cool in the hot humid North Carolina summer heat!
So far the results have been ‘intriguing’. We’ve been busy writing a bunch of new articles on replacing our gutters which will start shortly.
I’m waiting until the vegetable plants are more mature to reach any interim conclusions, but I will write soon on this.
Thanks very much for dropping by.
Dan
