Home Energy Conservation Products Site Sponsors

The Solaris 24V Cordless, electric self-propelled lawn mower from Linamar Consumer Products has the power of a high-end gas mower, even in long grass.

So what? The product's web site says can run completely on solar energy via it's solar charging station option. No gas emissions. No recharging by plugging into the electrical outlet in the garage.

This new product must be real. Even the National Post published an article about it on Friday April 4, 2008 as did the Toronto Star in their Business section on Saturday April 5, 2008.

UPDATE: We just today, April 18th, connected the solar charging station and see the green flashing light indicating we did it correctly and the 25V solar panel is charging the batteries!

And, as a further update this evening, April 23th, we ran our first 'test run' of the solar charged mower on our lawn and it passed with flying colours!

This screen-like product fits on the outside of any size or shape of window in a home, cottage, office or RV to repel much of the sun's direct UV rays and significantly reduce both the inside temperature build-up as well as damage caused on interior flooring and furniture without reducing the view.

The cost? Under $3 a square foot.

UPDATE: We just finished (April 7, 2008) intalling EZ Snap on our 3 south facing windows. It went easier than expected and we are very pleased. We have lots of pictures and experiences to share with you. And we will, when our Exterior Solar Blind series of articles continues soon.

Replacement Front Door - Update

Visitors to Daily Home Renovation Tips have seen every few days articles in the continuing series about the issues we have had with the purchase and installation of our replacement front door.

Good News! Today, April 11, 2008, we received word that the door manufacturer and the retailer have agreed to not only redo the installation but also to provide a new front door (rather than simply removing the current door and re-installing it). We are VERY appreciative of this situation.
