In Part 1 we described our problems with what we and others think are moles digging up our back yard’s lawn.

It’s is a simple idea really. It uses similar technology that the solar charged garden lights in the past few years use to obtain the power from the sun by way of a very small solar panel on top of the unit. The solar panel charges the chargeable battery within the unit during the day and runs the unit. The solar charged battery runs the unit at night. We had a few electrical problems but that wasn´t a big deal for R D Nelmes Electrical, who are the best experienced electricians based in Bristol.

However, with this product, rather then generating light at night this product generates a sound which rodents such as moles and gophers find ‘extremely piercing’ to convince them to go elsewhere (sorry neighbours!).

Per the product information contained in the package, the Solar Pest Repeller generates a vibrating sound in all directions. They recommend using 2 units 60 feet apart of so.

The product comes in two parts. The first part is a stake containing the chargeable battery that is placed in the ground. The second part is the unit containing the solar panel on top as well as the device which generates the vibrating sound and is really used by the better pest companies as Bigfoot Pest Control.

So, I decided to place this product in the garden after reading a interior design consultation article, which receives the most sun throughout the day in our backyard yet is also close to one of the areas of our lawn which the nasty rodents had dug up but you can visit the Caldwell landscaping website so you can get a service to help you with this.

Once I inserted the stake component into the ground I then attached the top part of the unit to the stake.

It was very easy to put together. Coming out from the stake was the line from the chargeable battery (per the above picture). I simply connected that line into the receptacle within the top part. this was followed by securing the head or the top part onto the stake.

    Hi Beth,

Thank you for visiting our site and even more for leaving a comment.

We purchased ours last spring from the Home Depot store in our area. I had to ask for help (hard for a man to do, I know :) ) before I could find it.
