If you recall we had numerous issues with the installation of our replacement front door; everything from missed appointments to missing / broken pieces to in adequate installation and so on.
Back in mid-April, after much consternation, we were able to receive the decision that yes another door & frame would be built and installed in place of this replacement door.
So, now we wait for the new replacement door to be manufactured.
We received a phone call from the Customer Service representative, Amy, at the building supply retailer’s head off to advise us that the scheduled date for the new replacement door & frame to be completed and delivered to the retailer’s store in our town is June 6th.
Once the door is received by the store and inspected, we will be contacted to arrange for an installation date. Past experience has indicated that this installation date would be up to 2 to 3 weeks later.
We have been assured that:
- all of the necessary parts will be included the first time, including the part that will allow the top of the door frame to secure against the fascia immediately above to eliminate the current buckling of the fascia caused by the current replacement door
- the plugs to be used on the outside black cladding will be factory painted black (vs by hand)
- black exterior caulking will be provided the first time
- the proper length metal threshhold (the metal part that is at the bottom of the door frame) will be included and it will be installed correctly with full support
- and so on.
So, not much more to tell at this point. We’ll be back to this series on our replacement front door when there is more to report. Hopefully it will be about the installation of the replacement for the replacement door.
