To finish the job and provide a more professional appearance all we did was to use Wood Filler that cost less than $5. At first we thought that we would need to remove the door handle hardware, so that is what we proceeded to do. On the second pair of French doors we simply left the door hardware on the doors and proceeded to apply the Wood Filler onto the visible gaps. In both cases, we needed to ensure that we removed the excess Wood Filler from the hardward before it dried. To ensure that the finish looks smooth as if the Wood Filler material is not even there one simply needs to gently sand any rough spots.
