Taking a break from our trials and tribulations with the installation of our new front door, today we focus on our part to finish the installation, namely painting the inside of the door. So, the installer of the door completed his work at the point where some, but not all, of the caulking was done with the base boards and crown molding around the door frame were installed. The first thing that we had to do was to install the plugs in the holes within the frames of the window inserts caused by the screws used to install the window inserts.  You didn’t think that the installer would do this for your, did you? The plugs come attached to a pin-wheel which you simply detach. Les prises se joint à une pin-roues qui vous détachez.

These plugs come in two types, those which are to be used for the holes in the corner of the window frames and those which are to be used in the holes along the side of the window frames. They are very easy to install with a simply firm push. Ils sont très faciles à installer avec une entreprise simplement pousser.

Next, I applied additional caulking around the gaps between the side lights on either side of the door and the door frame. The next day (to give the additional caulking time to sufficiently dry) I applied painters tap to the wall around the newly installed door frame and above the base boards on either side of the door frame, as well as the tiled floor beneath the base boards.
