Yesterday we wrote about our efforts to apply weather stripping to the enclosure of our electrical panel. Ieri abbiamo scritto sui nostri sforzi per applicare a tempo stripping il recinto del nostro quadro elettrico. This was because the energy audit we received in the late fall indicated a massive amount of cold air entering the house from that area. This is bad news in both the winter and in the summer as it causes heated air to leave the home in the winter and cooled air to leave in the summer causing the heater and air conditioner, respectively, to work harder and longer than they should costing us money and consuming non-renewable resources. Questa è una cattiva notizia in inverno ed in estate in quanto cause aria riscaldata a lasciare la casa in inverno raffreddato ad aria e di lasciare in estate la causa del riscaldamento e aria condizionata, rispettivamente, a lavorare di più e più lungo di quello che dovrebbe costi ci soldi e consumano risorse non rinnovabili.

We left off yesterday with two issues. Avevamo interrotto ieri con due questioni. The first issue is that the door on the right of the electric panel enclosure does not close flush with the enclosure frame as shown in the pic’s below. Il primo problema è che la porta a destra del quadro elettrico recinto non chiude con un getto di clausura telaio come mostrato nella foto qui sotto's. The result will be quite frankly a waste of time and effort to apply the weather stripping if this gap remains. Il risultato sarà francamente uno spreco di tempo e di impegno ad applicare il tempo stripping se questo divario resta.

The second issue was that there was a noticeable gab between the two doors when they are closed as shown below. Il secondo problema è stato che non vi è stato un notevole gab tra le due porte, quando sono chiusi come indicato qui sotto.

What solution did we come up with. Quale soluzione si è arrivati fino a. Well, a simple one.  I like simple. Beh, semplice. Mi piace semplice. What we did was to apply the vertical weather stripping on the left side of the right hand door slightly protruding beyond the door. Quello che abbiamo fatto è stato quello di applicare le condizioni meteorologiche lo stripping verticale sul lato sinistro della mano destra porta leggermente al di là della porta. Not, much mind you; just enough so when the two doors would be closed together the vertical weather stripping on both doors would connect. No, molto mente voi; appena sufficiente per cui quando le due porte chiuse sarebbe insieme il tempo stripping verticali su entrambi i porte di connessione.

Not only did this deal with the gap between the two doors, but it also kept the door on the right side flush with the enclosure frame. Non solo ha fatto questo accordo con il divario tra le due porte, ma è anche tenuto la porta sul lato destro a filo con il recinto cornice. A win-win for sure. A win-win per certo. The result is that no longer do I feel any cold air rushing out from the electrical panel enclosure. Il risultato è che non è più mi sento alcuna fretta di aria fredda fuori dal quadro elettrico recinto. What a difference. Che cosa la differenza.

And, remember that weather stripping is important in both the winter and the summer. E, si ricordi che lo stripping tempo è importante in inverno ed estate.
