Yesterday we wrote about our efforts to apply weather stripping to the enclosure of our electrical panel. Ayer escribí sobre nuestros esfuerzos para aplicar el clima para el paso de la caja eléctrica de nuestro grupo. This was because the energy audit we received in the late fall indicated a massive amount of cold air entering the house from that area. Esto se debía a que la auditoría energética que hemos recibido a fines del otoño se indica una cantidad masiva de aire frío entrando en la casa de esa zona. This is bad news in both the winter and in the summer as it causes heated air to leave the home in the winter and cooled air to leave in the summer causing the heater and air conditioner, respectively, to work harder and longer than they should costing us money and consuming non-renewable resources. Esta es una mala noticia tanto en invierno como en verano, ya que las causas de aire caliente a abandonar el hogar en el invierno y se enfría el aire a salir en el verano provocando el calefactor y aire acondicionado, respectivamente, a trabajar más duro y más largo de lo que debería de costos nosotros el dinero y el consumo de recursos no renovables.

We left off yesterday with two issues. Nos dejó el día de ayer con dos cuestiones. The first issue is that the door on the right of the electric panel enclosure does not close flush with the enclosure frame as shown in the pic’s below. La primera cuestión es que la puerta a la derecha del panel eléctrico recinto no se cierra el rubor con el marco recinto tal y como se muestra en la foto de abajo. The result will be quite frankly a waste of time and effort to apply the weather stripping if this gap remains. El resultado será francamente un desperdicio de tiempo y esfuerzo a aplicar el tiempo de extracción por si esta diferencia se mantiene.

The second issue was that there was a noticeable gab between the two doors when they are closed as shown below. La segunda cuestión es que hubo una notable gab entre las dos puertas cuando se cierran como se indica a continuación.

What solution did we come up with. ¿Qué solución ha llegado hasta nosotros. Well, a simple one.  I like simple. Bueno, simple. Me gusta simple. What we did was to apply the vertical weather stripping on the left side of the right hand door slightly protruding beyond the door. Lo que hicimos fue aplicar el clima de extracción vertical en el lado izquierdo de la mano derecha puerta ligeramente protuberante más allá de la puerta. Not, much mind you; just enough so when the two doors would be closed together the vertical weather stripping on both doors would connect. No, es mucho lo que cuenta, sólo lo suficiente para que cuando las dos puertas se cerrarán juntos el clima de extracción vertical en ambas puertas se conecte.

Not only did this deal with the gap between the two doors, but it also kept the door on the right side flush with the enclosure frame. No sólo este acuerdo y la diferencia entre las dos puertas, sino que también mantendrá la puerta en el lado derecho quede a ras con el marco recinto. A win-win for sure. A ganar-ganar con seguridad. The result is that no longer do I feel any cold air rushing out from the electrical panel enclosure. El resultado es que ya no se qué me siento toda prisa de aire frío desde el panel eléctrico recinto. What a difference. ¿Qué la diferencia.

And, remember that weather stripping is important in both the winter and the summer. Y, recuerde que el paso de la meteorología es importante tanto en invierno como en verano. Remember your high air conditioning bills from last year? Recuerde su aire acondicionado de alta las facturas del año pasado? Don’t wait like I did. No espere al igual que yo. Check your home for air leaks and apply weather stripping or caulking as appropriate. Revise su hogar para las pérdidas de aire y aplicar la meteorología o las calafateo, según proceda.
