Today’s tip is one of my pet peeves of contractors; more particularly, electricians. Hoje a dica é um dos meus pet peeves dos contratantes; mais particularmente, electricistas.

Label the gosh darn on-off switches that are in the main electrical panel, will ya! Selo do gosh darn on-off switches que estão no painel elétrico principal, irá ya!

There is nothing more frustrating when one needs to turn the power off for a certain electrical outlet / light switch. Não há nada mais frustrante quando precisa de um turno que o desligamento de uma certa tomada elétrica / luz mudar. You know what is going to happen, right? Você sabe o que vai acontecer, né?

The light switch you need to turn off the power will be the one that is the furthest away from the electrical panel. A luz que você precisa mudar para desligar a energia será a única que é o mais distante dos eléctricos painel. And, of course there is no label on any of the on-off switches which lead you to even guess which one of them provide the power for the area of the house containing the light switch. E, claro, não há rótulo em qualquer uma das chaves on-off que levam você a adivinhar o que até mesmo um deles fornecer a energia para a área da casa que contém a luz mudar.

Why are the on-off switches in the electrical panel never labeled? Porque é que o on-off interruptores elétricos no painel marcados como nunca?

Are electricians lazy? Electricistas são preguiçosos? Well, to be honest, there is something to that, IMO. Bem, para ser sincero, há algo a que, IMO. There are building codes and electrical codes and laws of physics which electricians need to adhere. Não há códigos de construção e elétricos códigos e leis da física que electricistas necessidade de adesão. But, none of those codes indicates that the wiring or rewiring job is not finished until the switch box is properly and accurately labeled. Porém, nenhum destes códigos indica que a fiação ou rewiring trabalho não está terminado até que o interruptor caixa é regular e correctamente rotulados. Or, do they? Ou, acaso?

So, today’s waste of 1/2 an hour with a dozen trips up and down the stairs from one end of the house on the main floor to the electrical panel room at the opposite end of the house in the basement was not enjoyable. Of course, not all contractors, electricians and the like are plain lazy and do just enough to get paid and then leave.  I am sure any electrical contractor you would use would never do that. And, if you are the home owner, for gosh sakes, when you actually do find the on-off switch on the electrical panel that is the one you want, label it yourself! E, se você é dono de casa, para gosh sakes, quando na verdade você não encontrar o interruptor on-off sobre o painel elétrico que é o que pretende, rotulá-la você mesmo! No, you will not remember the next time you need to find it again. Não, você não se lembrar da próxima vez que você precisa para encontrá-lo novamente.
